Sports Wisdom...

Everyone loves to test their physical abilities. It's just incredibly joyful and one of the main reasons why we love Sports and Games. If we didn't have each other how would we compare and measure our skills?

What could a person learn from playing sports?
Sports can teach us about planning, teamwork, math, problem solving, physics, physical intelligence, psychology, spatial intelligence, communication, relationships and kinesthetic intelligence, just to name a few. Never underestimate the importance of play.

"Sports are a celebration of human life."    Sports Quotes and famous Sports Sayings

Playing is a celebration of life. It's sometimes daring, and sometimes flirting with death. But because the survival rate is high, we don't see it as flirting with death, we see it as a challenge, and a measurement of our abilities. The Risk is Minimized when we gain experience, skill and knowledge. What started out as being impossible, is now possible. Just another benefit of sports, making the impossible possible. We just don't compete against each other, we also share the experience with each other, which is the most beneficial part. The winning and losing is just irrelevant details of an awesome experience. We have turned our physical explorations into games. It's our love for life being physically expressed. But there's a difference between playing sports with your friends and playing organized sports. Playing with your friends is awesome, but playing in an organized league with rules, regulations with all kinds of other stuff, is like another world. And if you are not coached, on and off the field, then you will miss out on all the benefits that come from playing sports. And that's one of the problems, most people know the benefits of playing sports, but they can't explain these benefits, or are they aware of
all the benefits that come from human interactions. Yes we need sports and games, but more important, we need a better education system, and a better way to share knowledge and information that guarantees the understanding of sports, as well as all the ways that we can acquire maximum benefits from all our experiences. If sports only benefits a few, then that means there's a problem. Your not going to get all the benefits from sports unless you understand what those benefits are. It's not just the sports that will make you a better person, it's everything else that surrounds our experiences. We can learn about ourselves, we can learn about other people, and we can learn about our abilities in Three Dimensional Space. Sports is an opportunity to learn, and just one of many opportunities to learn. But if you don't know enough to take advantage of these learning opportunities, then you will end up missing out on most of the benefits.  Dangers of Praise

Sports is a celebration of humans physical and mental abilities, and just one of many ways that we
have for expressing our deep appreciation for the gift of life. And in doing so we have come up with a lot of different ways to celebrate life using sports and games, which also shows how incredibly creative we are. So it's not just a sport or just a game, it's a lot more. This is not to say that playing games and sports are without problems. But we are getting better on recognizing our mistakes and getting better at correcting our mistakes as we go. One thing about sports is that sports are not as productive or beneficial as they can be. Getting together in big stadiums or playing fields does not have to be wasteful, or abusive or become a misuse of people, time and resources. We can be deserving of our time together. We can make sports our reward for being kind to each other and being kind to our environment. It doesn't have to be shallow or superficial, sports can be positive and very educational.

Remember, there is only so much you can learn from your Experiences

"Competition is a form of cooperation. I will do my best to defend you, while you will do your best to
overcome my defenses, and vise versa. Then we will measure our performance and learn what works best, and learn what has the highest success rate. And we can also have fun while we learn. In business competition should also be a form of cooperation. Let's see who can make the best product that is the most sustainable, the most durable, and the easiest to recycle. But we must not cheat, or monopolize, or discourage development and advancement in anyway shape or form, because then everyone loses, as we can clearly see today, well almost clearly"

Athletes are great examples of human physical achievements. This is why people just love to watch the best athletes Perform. This is where we can see human abilities come to life. This is also when we can dream and imagine how it would feel to be that great. Our sports players are important reminders of the potential that is in all of us. Sports are also a very beneficial social function that will never grow old. Whether you're watching your child play sports for the first time, or watching a professional, the benefits are equally important.

It's really hard to deny the thrill of
Competition, you just can't beat it. And when you experience the thrill of victory it's just a great feeling to enjoy. But not everyone is prepared for the risks and vulnerabilities that go along with sports. Sport Psychology is not something that everyone is aware of.  Failure

Gamesmanship    Game Theory     Interpersonal intelligence    Teamwork     Emotional Reaction

Sports are not just about winning, or the medal, or the ring or the trophy. It’s more about the thrill of playing sports and having the privilege to compete. Whether you're competing against the best Athletes in the world from every country and every walk of life, or just competing with friends or just yourself, the experience will be with you forever. It might not mean anything now or right after it’s over, but years from now you will see just how amazing those moments truly were.  Self Confidence and Fear

Sports are not just about you, your country or your team either, it's about the fans too. Whether it's just one fan or millions of fans, the joy you bring them, whether in Defeat or Triumph, will help them renew their hopes and dreams and their belief in the human spirit.  Organized Sports Benefits

Sports Know How     Sports Tips     Training      Skills     Kinesthetic Intelligence     Memory

Enjoy yourself, because a lot of people never get the chance to play sports at any level.
All your hard work and dedication to your sport should never go unnoticed to you or anyone.  Pride
And losing a competition doesn’t take away from what a great athlete you are or your accomplishments, it just means that someone else was just a little bit better or luckier then you were on that particular day. Plus, you will always learn more from a loss then you would learn from a win, and just how much you benefit from that is really up to you. If you can't handle losing a game, Sore Loser, then you will suffer most of your life because life is filled with defeats. That is why sports are so important because they can teach us things about our character. I agree that losing can sometimes suck but losing your mind sucks way more. Remember it's a game. Yes it's more then just a game but it's still a game. Though winning is a great benefit, it should never be a fulfillment of all your dreams, because if it is, that’s all you will ever have and there is just too much more to life then just Winning a Game.

After a loss, shaking the hands of the other athletes is sometimes the farthest thing from your mind.
The total
Score and Losing are two different things. The score is just for details. Just because the other team has won does not mean that you have lost, there is no losing in sports. You're the Competition, without you there is no winner. So how could you lose, you can't lose, unless you're talking about losing your mind, then yes, you really did lose.    Mental Preparation     What is Adventure?

To be the best in the world means you have competed against the best in the world, so the competition is very much a part of your accomplishment, without the other athletes being their best how would you know what being the best really meant. You owe some of your hard work to your competition.

As I look back at all my sports moments as a kid I remember the losses and the wins, because they both had exciting moments, and that's what it's about, those moments.

Gloating is just for fun, never take it seriously, unless you're doing it to hurt someone, then you're just being an idiot. Dwell on your achievements with satisfaction, do not
contemplate one's own success or another's misfortune with malicious pleasure.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct    Touchdown Celebration   Taunting   Trash-talk    Boasting   Intimidation

Sportsmanship      Cheating        Coaching
Sports Injuries       Planning and Problem Solving

Remember, if you lost that usually means that someone else has won, so all is not lost. Congratulate the other team and the other players. Being part of the winning teams joy and their victory will always help lessen The Agony of Defeat. And if you won that means someone has lost. Don't get too caught up in your victory. Make sure you tell the losing team that they gave you a great game and that you appreciate their competition. Even if mistakes were made by players, coaches or referees and Unsportsmanlike Conduct has been witnessed, please do not dwell on the "what ifs" for it will only spoil the experience for everyone. Life is short and what ifs will never tell the whole story.  Taunting

It's hard to change your style of celebrating a win. Excessive celebration, or taunting, should not be viewed as insulting to the loser. Your style of losing, sore loser or not, the loser should respect the winners choice of how they wish to celebrate, no matter how stupid it is. Laugh it off, some ones happiness should influence you positively, and not negatively, besides, not everyone celebrates the same way, and most people never over react, or make the loser feel bad for losing. Not everyone is that mean or insensitive, but if they are, I'm sure they are not mean or insensitive all the time. And if they are, then they should get a flag, flagged for being mean and insensitive to often, 15 Yards!
We should laugh it off, but at the same time, not encourage behavior that could be insensitive. But we also can't make rules that help protect people who are insulted or offended by certain behavior, because that is also telling people that it's ok to be offended, because it's not ok. We don't want to enable peoples weaknesses. You should not let others make you feel inferior, in a game or any where else.

Sports Psychology   Physical Education   Sports Performance Evaluation   Youth Sports Psychology

Being Aggressive has nothing to do with working hard or Giving it all you got. Aggression is not the
same thing as being determined or being Motivated. So when I hear someone say that you have to be
aggressive out there, I'm disappointed in the lack of information as well as its intended meaning.
You are better off saying "Stick with the Game Plan, stay Focused, stay alert and be ready to
Accelerate". Of course this takes Practice, Training, good Reflexes and perfecting your Skills.
You have to understand your Abilities, your Endurance, your Physical Strength, your ability to deal with Stress as well as knowing the difference between the Threshold of Pain and Serious
Injury.
Knowing when to save energy and knowing when to apply Force and Adrenaline is critical if you are going to last the game and avoid Fatigue that could hamper your performance when it's needed most.

Play smarter is more important then playing harder. Anger has no place in sports for it will only distract you from your Focus, your Abilities and your Potential, and at the same time Embarrass yourself, your teammates, your fans, your friends, your family and your sport. Anger is when Disappointment decays into Violence, and this violence comes from a persons lack of knowledge and from a persons lack of
Self Control.    Anger Management   Stress    Martial Arts    Awareness   Happiness   Morals

Some players experience great performance under the right conditions because they are never truly challenged. It's when those players are tested and compared to other players of the same skill level and the same abilities is when their true potential is revealed. But even then some players get better when challenged by higher caliber players and other players realize that their abilities will never be good enough to compete at a professional level. Either way, trying to be the best is still better then never trying at all. Have fun on all your adventures and never be disappointed in your efforts. Learn from your efforts, because your experiences will always have some form of value associated with them.
Everybody can't be a Sports Star, but that certainly doesn't mean that you will not shine in your life.

One of the main reasons why sports are so important to kids is that sports are a perfect example of what learning is, and what learning can do to improve yourself. Playing sports will reward a person with a skill that becomes better and better the more they play. And that is just one of the many benefits that
comes from learning. That amazing feeling that you get when you become good at a sport, that should be the same feeling you get when you learn things that will benefit you, or benefit and others. Yes learning should be exhilarating. But If learning is not exciting for you, then you most likely have not learned enough of the right things at the right time, which is one of the reasons why we have to improve education.

Cheating  -  Lying  -  Fraud

Lance Armstrong and all those other athletes who Cheated and Lied should go to every elementary school in the country and apologize to the children for cheating and lying. They should let every child know that you are very sorry and that you want to help them avoid making the same mistakes that they did. Lance and friends should ask the children how they should be remembered and how they should be forgiven. They should show children how difficult life is, and show them that winning at sports should not include cheating and lying. Once you cheat, your sport is no longer a competition, it's unfair experiment, so please, share your data with everyone so that we can at least learn something from this experiment. Don't put in all that hard work and all that time and effort only to disgrace yourself and the sport, while denying other athletes the glory of victory who deserve it more. Cheating Dehumanizes life as well as the sport. Rules are made to create fairness so that everyone has an equal chance at winning. But if you cheat, or if the other person cheats, then that destroys the joy of competition, while at the same time it destroys the trust that we have in each other, and we need that trust, if we don't have trust in each other we spiral into chaos and into demoralizing behavior that spreads like a disease disintegrating our society, leading to more crimes, more problems, more lying, more cheating and more suffering. If you can't be a good example for children, then show children what a good example is supposed to be by showing them someone else. Bring your teammates who never cheated and have them explain that they love competition more then they love winning. And a clear conscience is worth way more then any medal or trophy. Let children know that being a good example is difficult, but not impossible. Just because we live in a time in human history where adults are lying and cheating does not mean that you will have a future where adults will lie and cheat. Life will one day be fair for everyone, all because of you and your actions. So please don't be discouraged and please don't give into Fame and Fortune, it's not worth it.

You don't need these...too many dangers, too many side effects, and totally unfair.

Match Fixing occurs as a match is played to a completely or partially pre-determined result, violating the rules of the game and often the law. The most common reason is to obtain a payoff from gamblers, but players may also intentionally perform poorly to gain a future advantage, such as a better draft pick or an easier opponent in a play-off. A player might also play poorly to rig a handicap system. Match fixing, when motivated by gambling, requires contacts (and normally money transfers) between gamblers, players, team officials, and/or referees. These contacts and transfers can sometimes be found, and lead to prosecution by the law or the sports league(s). In contrast, losing for future advantage is internal to the team and very hard to prove. Often, substitutions made by the coach designed to deliberately increase the team's chances of losing (such as having key players sit out, using minimal or phantom injuries as an excuse), rather than ordering the players actually on the field to intentionally underperform, are cited as the main factor in cases where this has been alleged. Match fixing generally refers to fixing the final result of the game. Another form of match fixing, known as spot fixing, involves fixing small events within a match which can be gambled upon, but which are unlikely to prove decisive in determining the final result of the game. Other names for match fixing include game fixing, race fixing, sports fixing, or hippodroming. Games that are deliberately lost are sometimes called thrown games. When a team intentionally loses a game, or does not score as high as it can, to obtain a perceived future competitive advantage, the team is often said to have tanked the game instead of having thrown it. In pool hustling, tanking is known as dumping. In sports where a handicap system exists and is capable of being abused, tanking is known as sandbagging

You just need to Train Hard and Train Smart...

We should stop blaming sports stars for being bad role models when they make mistakes. We should educate our youth better and let them know that these problems are real and could happen to anyone.

When you see a sport star doing a commercial for some crappie fast food company, just remember, sport stars are manipulated by money just like most people are. They don't care about the food they are indorsing, they just want the money, which is at the expense of our children. So don't blame certain sports stars for being ignorant and selfish, blame an inadequate education system that produces ignorant people instead of producing intelligent people.

You are never a loser until you quit trying. (Mike Ditka)   mistakes

Champions aren't made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside

There is only one way to succeed at anything and that is to give everything. (Vince Lombardi)

I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been
trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in
my life. And that is why I succeed. (Michael Jordan)

"Winning the hearts of people is more important then winning the prize. After all when it comes to competition in sports, if you lost that usually means that someone else has won, so all is not lost"
The game is over, time to get back to your life...      (Howard Polley)

"Sometimes the best don't always win, but the athlete knows that being the best away from the sport means that you will never lose"  (Howard Polley)

"It's not about winning, it's about learning and celebrating life in ways that we find joyful, pleasing and amusing. Winning is just for show, it's not really necessary."

You can play games in life, but don't let your life become a game. (Howard Polley)

"One of the many reasons why sports is so incredible to play and so fun to watch is that you can play your best game, you can feel that you are the better team, but you can still lose, that is why we love sports, because the Underdog can still win, and that kind of excitement and that glimmer of hope is what makes sports so incredibly special, you can't lose even if you do lose"  (Howard Polley)

"The worst thing that I noticed about Sports Betting is that the people who place bets on sports can't fully enjoy the game as much as I do. Mostly because they're more worried about the money. Not to say that occasional gambling isn't fun, it's just that I love sports more then money. So why mix the two together. I don't like things that taint my love, it kind of ruins the truth of the moment." (Howard Polley)

If a team is to reach its potential, each player must be willing to subordinate his personal goals to the good of the team. (Bud Wilkinson)

Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and

Kids need Personal Coaching and Support

In order for kids to excel in sports, or at least enjoy the experience of sports, Kids need personal coaching and support. If they don't, then they might get discouraged and quit, just like I did in High school. Not to say that personal coaching and support is absolutely necessary, but it definitely helps. Almost all of the best athletes in the world have good coaching. Sometimes you need someone to push you to train harder in order for you to reach your peak physical condition, which will help you to perform better, and also help you to experience less injuries. So if you like sports and don't have the support, then you need to work harder on building friendships with other athletes and their parents, ones who could support you and offer you good advice.
Teamwork and camaraderie is one area of sports that gets over looked. Sharing our experiences doubles the enjoyment. When you hear pro athletes talk about their success in sports they always mention someone who guided them, inspired them or supported them. So don't underestimate this need, seek out support, seek guidance. Of course there is no guarantee of success, but if you tried and failed at least it wasn't because you didn't try hard enough, it just means that your fate was meant for something more important. So no regrets. Keep learning.

"I had a much better time playing sports with friends then I did playing organized sports. Playing on Sunday mornings was always an incredible experience, you never knew who was going to show up or what crazy things would happen."
